Installing Microsoft Access 97 with Office 2007

Installing Access '97 onto a machine with a later version of Office already installed is troublesome. Before installing '97 follow these steps:

Install the Jet 3.5 update (fixes problem with creating system database file):

Follow the instructions here in the "Access 2000 Is Already Installed" section:

If you don't do the "hatten.ttf" trick you will get this error: "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine".

Now install Access '97 as normal (you may want to change it's installation directory).
